Jo Anne Mitchell, M.Ed., LPC, CPCS, RPT/S, NCC

Jo Anne Mitchell is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist/ supervisor in Savannah, GA.  She provides counseling to children and their families, as well as training and supervision in counseling and play therapy.  She is licensed as a Professional Counselor by the state of Georgia (LPC#1979), and a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC#31607).  She is also a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (#1160) and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (#S370). She is certified in EMDR Level 2, has completed advanced training in Theraplay through the Theraplay Institute, a certified leader for Active Parenting, a trained facilitator for Positive Discipline and Rainbows for All Children, and was a trainer for Peace Education Foundation.

Jo Anne is a member of the following professional organizations:  Licensed Professional Counselors Association, South Georgia Association for Play Therapy, Inc., and Association for Play Therapy, Inc.  As a member of the Association for Play Therapy, Inc., she served on the ethics committee, was a member of the committee that created and wrote the initial Standards of Practice, and was the primary author on the Play Therapy Association’s initial position paper on the issue of touch in play therapy.  She is past president and founder of the South Georgia Association for Play Therapy, Inc.
